Carol Genetti/Peter Maunu
Hunter Brown/Molly Jones
∆ Carol Genetti and Peter Maunu have played as a duo for many years around chicago in venues such as Beat Kitchen, Elastic Arts, Constellation and the likes. Their practice is rooted in free improvisation, with a proclivity towards investigations of hidden melodies and sounds that come forth within the energy of musical experimentation. Here
is a small sample of their performance at the Comfort Station from 2015.
∆ Carol Genetti is a multimedia artist whose practice is grounded in free improvisation, with a desire to unlock subconscious ideas and unexpected outcomes. She has performed widely as an experimental vocalist, with synthesizers, various objects and video projections. Her palette is primordial, existing in a space where “language” and “music” have yet to be formulated into familiar cultural patterns. She has performed with many improvising musicians, including Jack Wright, Eric Leonardson, Peter Maunu, Olivia Block and many others. Most recent recordings include a duet with Claire Rousay “Live at Elastic Arts” (Astral Spirits) and a collaborative release with visual artist Gwyneth Zeleny Anderson “Chyme” (Suppedaneum).
Carol Genetti performs at Saffron Rails, as part of Red Bull Music Festival, in Chicago, IL on November 9, 2018
